Troop 205 from Kalamazoo was here to get their merit badges by cleaning up brush from the woods and learning about fire practices. They did a fantastic job and I enjoyed talking with all of them over the weekend. They set up a kitchen tent, their sleeping tents, did all their own cooking and cleaning up along with taking a little time out for a game of football in the North field. The boys, ages 10 to 16, were very responsible, good-natured and worked hard while having a good time in the process. They will grow up to be the leaders we need, thanks to the dedicated help of their scoutmasters. I loved having them here and look forward to having them back. Thanks, guys!
I also learned that boys who become Eagle scouts and learn about decision-making, responsibility, respect for nature, respect for one another and leadership are at the top of the list for future employers to consider hiring. I encourage all parents to introduce scouting to your children. It will reward them throughout their lives.
